Maria Sharapova was born in Siberia, but went to Florida at age 9 to become a tennis player. Her first big achievements were second places in the junior grand slams Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2002. In 2003 and 2004 she has won WTA tournaments in both single and double and her biggest victory is the Wimbledon 2004 title, which has also earned her a place in the top 10 on the WTA ranking. She is right handed and has a tough backhand and plenty of ambition to win more titles. Off the court she reads a lot and she likes fashion, dancing and singing. She has a modelling contract with IMG management since November 2003 - for a good reason as you'll see in the pictures below.
